a relaunch: The Ghost of Carlos Gardel

I put a ton of work into this book before its original publication. In fact, writing this book required writing another entire book and a novella, because there was so much happening underground, as it were. For republication this year, I trimmed about 4000 words. Why? In 2019, when I wrote this, I was desperately creating a fictional world because my real one was kind of crappy. I had a few too many points of view, and I am now ready to let those go.

THE GHOST OF CARLOS GARDEL is not a conventional romance. It’s fiction with romantic elements. The primary love story involves my anchor characters Andy Martin and Victor Garcia (CO-STARS). The secondary love story involves Tanith Salazar and Ysidro Palacio, whose origin story is MILLION DOLLAR DEATH.

Three key things:

  1. This is not a ghost story! It’s a Hollywood story about making a movie which happens to be called The Ghost of Carlos Gardel. It’s chock full of moviemaking nerdery. If you never watch the special features, this may not be the book for you.

  2. Carlos Gardel = an early and eternal star of Argentine tango. Thus, the book is also chock full of tango nerdery. If you couldn’t care less about dancing or dancers, this may not be the book for you.

  3. It’s queer AF. Andy & Victor have just moved into their renovated duplex. On the other side are Vicky Russo & Sharon Weiss (UNDERTOW), now married and the mothers of a toddler. All four of them are close to Dmitri Vasko & Patrick Sarkisian (ONE ENCHANTED EVENING) and Dana Richardson & Rory Atwood (STRIPPED). If you prefer your characters straight, this may not be the book for you.

The flip side of all those is also true: if you like movies and dancing and you crave a diverse found-family community, this may be the book you’ve been looking for!
